What the Social Media Post Generator by AI Writing Assistant does

The Social Media Post Generator is the part of this AI writing assistant built for the post you have to publish today. You describe what you want to say once, pick the platforms, and the social media content writer returns a native version for each one — an Instagram caption with its hashtag block, a 280-character X post, a LinkedIn post that earns its “see more”, a YouTube title and description, a Pinterest pin, a Reddit title and body — every one inside that platform’s own limit, with three opening hooks and a hashtag set you can toggle in or out before you copy it.

How the AI social media post generator turns one brief into ten posts

Three steps. The second one is what a general chatbot cannot do for you.

1

Say what the post is about

A couple of lines is enough — “we ship the new kraft mailers on Friday, pre-orders get 15% off, link in bio”. Paste a blog post, product page or press release instead if you have one; the generator pulls the post out of it. Names, prices, dates and links carry through exactly as typed.

2

Pick the platforms, the format and the goal

Choose one platform or all ten. Choose a post, a thread or carousel, or a video script. Set the tone (eight), the goal (engage, educate, announce, sell, grow, recruit, entertain) and the length. Every platform you picked comes back as its own card, written to its own rules.

3

Swap the hook, toggle the hashtags, copy

Each card shows a live character count against that platform’s limit, three alternative opening lines, and broad, niche and branded hashtags you can click into the caption one at a time. Edit anything in place, then copy the card or download the whole set.

Ten platforms, ten sets of rules

A caption that works on Instagram is a wall of text on X and a wasted opportunity on LinkedIn. The generator knows the limit, the visible preview length, the hashtag habit and the extra fields of each network, so you do not have to.

X (Twitter)

280 characters, links count as 23, hashtags sparingly. Threads as numbered posts.

Tweet & thread generator

Instagram

2,200 characters, the first 125 show before “more”, up to 30 hashtags, alt text for the image.

Instagram caption generator

Facebook

Long posts allowed, but roughly 477 characters show before the fold. Few or no hashtags.

Facebook post generator

LinkedIn

3,000 characters, about 210 before “see more”, three to five hashtags, no link in the body.

LinkedIn post generator

TikTok

4,000-character captions, but the first line does the work. Scripts with on-screen text and voice.

TikTok script generator

YouTube

A 100-character title, a 5,000-character description and a 500-character tag list, all returned separately.

YouTube description generator

Threads

500 characters, a single topic tag rather than a hashtag block, threads as numbered posts.

Threads post generator

Pinterest

A 100-character title and a 500-character description written for search, plus alt text.

Pin description generator

Reddit

A 300-character title and a body of up to 40,000, no hashtags, no marketing voice, a suggested flair.

Reddit post writer

WhatsApp / Telegram

A broadcast or channel message of up to 4,096 characters, written to be read on a phone, no hashtags.

Broadcast message generator

Social media character limits the generator writes to

These are the limits each card is counted against. The “shown before more” column is the part of a post most people actually read, which is why the hook goes there.

Limits are the platforms’ own published or documented values as of September 2026. The counter on each card turns amber at 90% and red over the limit, and a post that comes back over a hard limit is rewritten before you see it rather than trimmed mid-sentence.

One brief, a native post for every platform you picked

The multi-platform post generator does not paste the same caption ten times. Each card is written to that network’s length, habit and audience.

  • Pick platforms one at a time or choose “All ten platforms”; the run button tells you how many posts you are about to get.
  • Every card carries its platform’s icon, the format, and a live count against the limit — including how much of it shows before “more”.
  • Three hooks per post. Click one and it becomes the opening line without touching the rest.
  • Hashtags come as broad, niche and branded sets. Click a chip to add it to the caption; the counter stops you at the platform’s maximum.

One brief, three platforms. The counts are the tool’s own; nothing here was edited.

Threads, carousels and video scripts, not just captions

The same brief can come back as a numbered X thread, a slide-by-slide carousel or a short-form video script with on-screen text and voice lines.

  • Thread on X and Threads: each post numbered, each inside the limit, the first one carrying the hook and the last one carrying the ask.
  • Carousel on Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook and TikTok: a title and a few lines per slide, plus the caption that goes with it.
  • Video script for TikTok, Reels, Shorts and YouTube: a spoken hook, scenes with a time stamp, the text on screen and what is said, and a closing line — with an estimated running time.
  • Where a platform has no equivalent (a Reddit “thread”, a WhatsApp “script”) the card says so and gives you a post instead.
The same brief written as an X thread: five numbered posts, each with its own character count under 280, three hook buttons above them and the hashtag sets below.
Thread format on X: five posts, every one inside the limit, the ask in the last one.

A viral hook generator that tells you why the hook works

No tool can promise a viral post, and this one does not. What it can do is write the first line the way posts that travel are written — and give you three of them to choose from.

Hooks that stop the scroll

The first line is the only line most people read. Each card offers three: usually a specific claim, a question the reader already has, and a contrast or number. Pick the one that fits and the caption reflows under it.

Viral caption ideas without the clichés

No “game-changer”, no “unleash”, no opening with “Exciting news!” The generator is told to lead with the specific thing and to cut filler, and you can add your own words to avoid under Details.

A fresh angle in one click

The Refine menu rewrites every card at once: shorter, a punchier hook, more casual or more professional, ending on a question, fewer or more hashtags, or a completely different angle on the same facts.

Written for the preview, not the expand

Instagram shows about 125 characters, LinkedIn about 210, Facebook about 477 before the fold. The generator puts the point inside that window and the detail after it, and the counter shows you where the cut falls.

The facts survive

Prices, dates, names and links are kept exactly as you typed them, on every platform. If the brief says 15% and Friday, no card says 20% or Thursday, and none invents a claim you did not make.

In the language of your audience

Sixty-four languages across seventy-three regional variants, or it detects the language of your brief. Hashtags stay in the language the post is written in.

How the hashtag generator picks its sets

Hashtags are a search habit, not a decoration, and the right number is different on every network. The generator returns three sets and lets you decide which go in.

  • BroadTwo or three high-volume tags that name the category — the ones people browse. Useful for reach, useless on their own because everyone else is using them too.
  • NicheSpecific tags for your topic, place or audience — the ones a smaller, more interested group actually follows. These do most of the work in a hashtag set.
  • BrandedYour own tag, built from the brand or handle you set under Details, so every post you publish collects in one place.
  • How manyInstagram allows 30 and works best with three to five; LinkedIn three to five; TikTok three to six; X zero to two; Threads a single topic tag; Reddit and WhatsApp none. Each card’s counter shows the count in the caption against that platform’s maximum and recommendation.
  • Where they goToggle a chip and it lands in a hashtag block at the end of the caption, never mid-sentence. Toggle it again and it leaves. The caption stays readable either way.

The tool does not report search volumes for hashtags, because no free source of that data exists and inventing one would be worse than none. The sets are the AI’s judgement of what fits the post, and you know your audience better than it does.

One brief, three posts: a real run, printed unedited

The brief below was typed into the tool on 18 September 2026 with the Friendly tone, the Announce goal, Standard length, light emoji, and a brand, link and call to action set under Details. Everything on the right is what came back, character counts included.

Three things worth noticing. Every fact survived on every platform: 26 September, 15%, recycled paper, Leeds, the letterbox. Instagram says “link in bio” while X and LinkedIn print the URL, because captions cannot carry a link. And the honest part: the call to action landed as its own closing line on Instagram rather than woven into a sentence, and the X hooks offered “faster deliveries”, which the brief never claimed — the kind of line you delete in two seconds, and the reason the cards are editable.

Post, thread or script: what each format returns

One brief, one request, and the format decides the shape of every card.

What changes from one platform to the next

The tone you pick is the same everywhere. The shape is not. These are the habits the generator writes to, and the ones worth knowing when you edit.

X: one idea, then stop

A tweet generator that pads to 280 has missed the point. The card says one thing, a link costs 23 characters, and a thread carries the rest.

Instagram: hook, then breathe

A free Instagram caption generator earns its keep in the first 125 characters. Short lines, a line break before the hashtag block, “link in bio” because captions cannot carry a link.

LinkedIn: earn the “see more”

A LinkedIn post generator has about 210 characters to make the reader expand. One-sentence paragraphs, a lesson or a number, the link in the first comment rather than the body.

Facebook: conversational, few tags

Facebook allows a book-length post and shows about 477 characters of it. The card reads like a person talking, asks something, and uses hashtags rarely if at all.

TikTok: the caption is the second hook

The video does the talking, so a TikTok script generator writes the spoken hook and the scenes, and the caption stays short, curious and tagged with three to six hashtags.

YouTube: write for search

A YouTube description generator puts the keyword and the promise in the first two lines, the detail and the timestamps after, and returns a separate title under 100 characters and a tag list under 500.

Threads: text first, one tag

Threads gives you 500 characters and a single topic tag instead of a hashtag block. A Threads post generator writes a conversational opener and keeps the tag to one.

Pinterest: describe it for a search box

Pins are found months later by search, so a Pinterest pin description generator writes a keyword-led title under 100 characters and a plain description under 500 that says what the pin shows.

Reddit: drop the marketing voice

Redditors punish anything that reads like an ad. A Reddit post writer gives you a plain 300-character title, a body that gives before it asks, no hashtags, and a flair to file it under.

WhatsApp and Telegram: a message, not a post

A broadcast is read one-to-one on a phone. The card is written as a message — a greeting if the tone allows, the news, the one thing to do — within 4,096 characters and with no hashtags.

Everything is editable

Titles, captions, thread posts, slides, script rows, tags and alt text are all editable in the card, and the counters follow your edits as you type.

Copy one, or take them all

Copy a single card with its hashtags, copy the whole set with a heading per platform, or download it as Word, PDF or plain text for whoever schedules the posts.

What a social media content generator cannot do for you

  • Make a post go viral. Reach depends on the account, the timing, the image or video and luck. The generator writes the caption the way posts that travel are written; the rest is yours.
  • Know your numbers. If you want “2,000 customers” in the post, put it in the brief. Nothing is invented, so a brief with no facts returns a post with no facts.
  • Replace your judgement on a sensitive day. A cheerful scheduled post during bad news is the most common social media disaster, and no generator sees the news.
  • Post for you. It writes; you publish. Read every card once as the person who will see it, and cut the line you would not say out loud.

The honest version of “viral-ready” is this: the hook is specific, the post fits the preview, the hashtags fit the platform, and nothing in it reads like an ad. That is what the generator does. Whether it travels is up to the audience.

Frequently asked questions

What is an AI social media post generator?

A tool that turns a short description of what you want to say into finished posts for social networks. Unlike a general chatbot, a dedicated social media content writer knows each platform’s character limit, how much of a post shows before “more”, how many hashtags belong, and which extra fields it needs — a title on YouTube, alt text on Instagram, a flair on Reddit — and returns each post already in that shape.

Is the social media post generator free?

Yes. Every platform, format, tone and goal is available without an account, within a per-request word allowance shown next to the brief. Signing in raises the allowance, and Pro removes the guest limits and the ads. The pricing page lists exactly what each plan includes.

Which platforms does it write for, and does it respect their character limits?

X (Twitter), Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube, Threads, Pinterest, Reddit, and WhatsApp or Telegram broadcasts. Each post is counted against that platform’s limit — 280 characters on X with links counted as 23, 2,200 on Instagram, 3,000 on LinkedIn, 500 on Threads, a 100-character title and 5,000-character description on YouTube, and so on. A post that comes back over a hard limit is rewritten before you see it, and the counter on each card turns amber near the limit and red over it.

Can it write the same post for several platforms at once?

Yes. Pick as many platforms as you like, or all ten, and one request returns one card per platform. They are not copies: the X post says one thing in 280 characters, the LinkedIn post is written to earn its “see more”, the Reddit post drops the marketing voice, and the Instagram caption says “link in bio” because captions cannot carry a link. The facts in your brief are the same in all of them.

Can it write an X thread or an Instagram carousel?

Yes. Choose the Thread / carousel format. On X and Threads you get a numbered thread of two to 25 posts, each inside the limit, with the hook in the first post and the ask in the last. On Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook and TikTok you get a carousel: a title and a few lines for each slide, plus the caption to post it with. Every post and slide is editable in place.

Does it write TikTok, Reels and YouTube Shorts scripts?

Yes. Choose the Video script format and each video platform returns a spoken hook, a table of scenes with a time stamp, the text shown on screen and the voice line, a closing call to action, and an estimated running time worked out from the spoken words. The caption to publish the video with comes on the same card. Reddit and WhatsApp have no video format, so they return a post instead and the card says so.

How do the hashtag sets work, and how many hashtags should I use?

Each card returns three sets — broad, niche and branded — as chips under the caption. Click a chip to add it to a hashtag block at the end of the caption, click again to remove it, and the counter shows the count against that platform’s maximum and recommendation: three to five on Instagram and LinkedIn, three to six on TikTok, none to two on X, one topic tag on Threads, none on Reddit and WhatsApp. The tool does not report hashtag search volumes, because no free and reliable source for them exists.

What are hooks, and why does it give me three?

The hook is the first line, and on most platforms it is the only line people see before deciding whether to expand. The generator writes three that take different approaches — typically a specific claim, a question the reader already has, and a contrast or a number — and shows them as buttons above the caption. Click one and it becomes the opening line without changing the rest of the post.

Can it make a post go viral?

No tool can promise that, and this one does not. What it does is write the post the way posts that travel are written: a specific first line inside the preview window, one idea, no filler, hashtags that fit the platform, and nothing that reads like an ad. Whether it spreads depends on your account, your timing, the image or video and your audience. Use the Refine menu to try a punchier hook or a different angle before you publish.

Does it write in other languages?

Yes, in 64 languages across 73 regional variants, or it detects the language of your brief. Hashtags are written in the language of the post. Character limits are the same in every language, but scripts such as Japanese or Arabic carry more meaning per character, so the same brief often comes back shorter.

Will the posts sound like my brand?

Closer than a general chatbot, because the tone, goal, brand name, audience, keywords to include and words to avoid are set explicitly under Details and kept between posts. Not exactly — the cards are meant to be edited, and changing two or three words is usually the difference between a post that sounds like a template and one that sounds like you.

What happens to what I type?

The brief and your details are sent once in order to write the posts, and are not stored as text afterwards. The posts, your platform choices and your details are kept in your own browser so they are there when you come back. See the privacy policy for the detail.

The rest of the toolkit

Every tool here runs on the same AI powered writing assistant, so the tone you choose for a post behaves the same way in the email writer or the paraphraser. Run a caption through the grammar checker before it goes out, or count it with the word counter. One plan covers all of them.
