Paste a DOI, an ISBN, a link or a title and the tool finds the publisher's own record for it and formats it in APA 7th edition — the author–date system used in psychology, education, nursing, business and most of the social sciences. The references entry and the in-text citation come together, and the rules are those of the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association, 7th edition (2019), published by the American Psychological Association. The 7th edition replaced the 6th in October 2019.

The publishers' records hold 6 of these titles in title case; the tool converted them to sentence case, as APA requires, and reported each change on its card, where one click keeps the original instead.

Kahneman, Knetsch, and Thaler (1991) is APA 6. In the 7th edition a work with three or more authors is Kahneman et al. (1991) from the first mention.
The phrase was dropped in 2019. A URL stands on its own; only a page that changes over time takes Retrieved Month Day, Year, from.
Chicago: University of Chicago Press is the 6th-edition form. The 7th edition gives the publisher's name only.
When an article has a DOI it must appear, as an https://doi.org/ link, even if you read the article in print. The tool looks it up from the article's own record so it is not left off.
If your handbook names one of these instead, its page opens the generator with that style selected.
Harvard looks the same in the text — (Kuhn, 2012, p. 12) — but uses and rather than the ampersand, names up to three authors before et al., writes Available at: before a URL with an accessed date after it, and keeps the publisher's city.
