Free Poem Generator

The generator writes an original poem from your subject in the form you choose. What it is good for is giving you a shape and a first image to argue with — the version people keep is usually the one where you have changed three lines.

When you need a poem

There is a birthday card, a wedding reading, a leaving speech or just an evening worth writing down, and a blank page is not helping.

What a poem has to do

The generator writes an original poem from your subject in the form you choose. What it is good for is giving you a shape and a first image to argue with — the version people keep is usually the one where you have changed three lines.

  • Show the thing, not the feeling'The kettle still set for two' does more than 'I miss you'. Concrete images are the whole craft, compressed.
  • Let the form do its workA sonnet turns at line nine; a limerick lands on the fifth. Forms carry expectations that make a poem feel finished.
  • Never force the rhymeA rhyme that bends the meaning is heard as a rhyme. Half-rhyme, or no rhyme, beats an awkward one.
  • One surprising line is enoughA poem where every line reaches for a metaphor exhausts the reader. Plain lines make the one image land.
  • Read it out loudRhythm is a sound, not a layout. Every weak line announces itself when you say it.

How to use the poem generator

Three steps, and the third is the one that makes it yours.

1

Describe it in a line

A subject, a moment, a feeling, or an occasion and the person it is for. Open Details for the fields this type uses: form, mood, acrostic word. Nothing you leave empty is invented to fill the gap.

2

Set the tone and the size

Eight tones, from neutral to persuasive, and 64 languages. Three lengths: short is 4–10 lines, standard is 10–18 lines, detailed is 18–32 lines.

3

Edit it where it sits

Everything comes back editable, counted as you type. Refine it shorter, simpler or more specific in one tap, regenerate for a different angle, then copy it or download it as Word, PDF or text.

Common mistakes

What goes wrong with a poem, whoever writes it.

Abstract nouns doing the work — love, time, soul, eternity — while nothing in the poem can be pictured.

Forcing a rhyme and accepting a line you do not mean.

Asking for a poem 'like' a famous one, which the tool will not copy — it writes something original instead.

Poem generator questions

Are the poems original?

Yes. It writes new work for your brief, and it will not reproduce an existing poem or song lyrics, in whole or in part — including one you paste in and ask it to continue. If you want a famous poem, look it up; if you want one about your own evening, that is what this is for.

Can it write a haiku, sonnet or acrostic?

Yes — pick the form and it is held to it. Haiku in three lines of five, seven and five; sonnets in fourteen with a turn; acrostics spelling the word you give in Details down the first letters. Limericks, ballads, blank verse and free verse are all there too.

Can I use the poem in a card, a speech or a book?

Yes, on every plan. What the tool returns is yours to read out, print or publish. If it is going in something you sell, read it once more in your own voice and change what does not sound like you — that is usually the difference between a poem that works and one that reads as filler.

Is the poem generator free?

Yes — every type, tone and length, without an account, within a per-request word allowance shown beside the brief. Signing in raises the allowance and Pro removes the guest limits and the ads. Nothing here is held back behind a plan.

Will it invent facts I did not give it?

No. Anything your brief does not state is treated as unavailable, and a figure, price, qualification or certification that could not have come from your brief is rejected and rewritten before you see it. Names, numbers and dates you do supply are preserved exactly.

After the draft

Check the grammar, shift the register, rewrite it in your own words, or see what a detector makes of it. One plan covers every tool.
