Product title generator

When you need a product

You are listing a product and the title has to satisfy a search box, a category filter and a buyer scanning forty results — in that order, without becoming a keyword sandwich.

What a product has to do

A product title is a specification, not a pitch. Brand, then product, then the one or two attributes that decide the purchase: size, quantity, material, model, compatibility. Buyers scan it to rule products out, and that is exactly what it should help them do.

  • Brand, product, decisive attributeThe shape every marketplace and every buyer expects. Anything else in the title is in the wrong field.
  • Fifty to seventy charactersMost marketplaces allow far more and most listings truncate near 70 in search and in a shopping feed.
  • Facts, not adjectives"Premium", "amazing" and "high-quality" take space from the size, the quantity and the fit, which are what people actually search for.
  • No ALL CAPS and no decorationStars, brackets and shouting mark a listing as low quality on every platform that has a quality score.
  • Never repeat a word for searchModern marketplace search does not reward it, and the duplicate is visible to the buyer.

How to use the product title generator

Three steps, and the third is where the choosing happens.

1

Say what it is about

Two or three lines about the piece — what it covers, who it is for, and the one thing the headline should promise. Or paste the finished draft and let it be titled from that.

2

Check the settings

Product title is already selected on this page, so the 50–70 character range and its rules are set. Choose how many headlines to see, the angles you want, and add a primary keyword under Details if the piece is targeting one.

3

Compare and edit

Every headline arrives with its character count, its score and its angle. Edit any of them in place and the numbers move with you, and the preview shows the selected one in a Google search result.

The numbers this page holds you to

Every headline is counted against these, and anything past the hard limit is rewritten before you see it.

  • Written to50–70 characters, 5–18 words.
  • Hard limit150 characters. A headline longer than this is rejected and rewritten rather than trimmed mid-word.
  • Cut at about70 characters, which is what a Google search result actually shows. The preview draws the cut so you can see it.
  • ScoreOut of 100, measured against this purpose's own range rather than a generic ideal.

Common mistakes

Three ways a product goes wrong, all of them visible in the score.

Too long, or the wrong shape

Two hundred characters of every keyword the seller could think of.

Vague where it should be specific

The variant missing, so the buyer clicks through only to find the wrong size.

Written for the writer, not the reader

A title identical across twelve variants, so search shows twelve identical rows.

Product title generator FAQs

Is the product title generator free?

Yes. Every purpose, angle, tone and count is free, without an account, within the per-request word allowance shown next to the brief. Signing in raises the allowance and Pro removes the guest limits and the ads — no feature of the product title generator is held back on any plan.

How long should a product title be?

Aim for 50 to 70 characters. Amazon allows 200 and Shopify effectively unlimited, but search results, category pages and shopping feeds truncate near 70 — and a title that needs 200 characters is usually hiding the attributes that matter behind keywords that do not.

Does this write titles for Amazon, Etsy and Shopify?

Yes. The shape — brand, product, decisive attribute — is what all three reward, and each generated title is counted against 70 characters so it survives their listing views. Put any required attribute in the brief and it will carry through exactly as typed.

Will it invent specifications?

No. Anything the brief does not state is treated as unavailable: it will not add a capacity, a material or a compatibility claim you did not give it. That rule matters more here than anywhere else on the site, because an invented specification in a product title is a returned order.

How is each headline scored?

Out of 100, across five bands you can open and read on every card: length against the 50–70 character range for this purpose (25 points), how much of the wording carries meaning (20), clarity (20), keyword placement when you set a primary keyword (20), and specificity (15). The score runs in your browser and updates as you edit, and it measures the shape of the line — not a prediction of clicks, which nobody can make without your audience.

Will it keep the names and numbers in my brief?

Yes, exactly as you typed them. And it works the other way too: a headline containing a figure that could not have come from your brief is rejected before you ever see it, as are placeholders such as [Topic] or “Your Company”. Anything your brief does not state is treated as unavailable rather than invented.

Once the headline is chosen

Write the piece underneath it, check the grammar, or summarise a finished draft into the description that goes with it. One plan covers every tool.

One page per kind of headline

Each page opens the generator with that purpose already selected, and explains what that surface rewards, where it cuts a line, and what a headline written for it has to carry. The full picker, with all thirteen, is on the main headline generator.
