When you need a paragraph rewriter

A paragraph is not five sentences in a row; it is a small argument with a point at the front and joins holding it together. That is why rewriting sentence by sentence goes wrong — each line comes back fine and the paragraph stops making sense. Paste the whole paragraph and the rewriter can see the joins it has to keep.

How to rewrite a paragraph

Three steps, and the third is the one people skip.

1

Paste it

Paste the whole paragraph, not one sentence at a time. The joins between sentences are the part most likely to break, and the tool can only protect them if it can see them.

2

Set it up

Keep Protect names & numbers on and freeze any term that must appear verbatim — a product name, a metric, a legal phrase.

3

Read what changed

Read the diff for the connectives first. If "however" has become "additionally", the logic has flipped and the rest of the rewrite does not matter.

Before and after, unedited

A real run of this rewriter, printed exactly as it came back, so you can judge it on what it actually returned.

Your text88 words

Our support team handles roughly 400 tickets a week. Most of them are not complicated. However, because every reply is written from scratch, two agents will often answer the same question in two different ways, and a customer who writes in twice gets two different answers. We introduced a shared library of saved replies in March. Since then the average first-response time has fallen from 9 hours to under 3, and the number of tickets that are reopened after being marked solved has dropped by about a third.

Standard mode87 words

The support team deals with approximately 400 requests weekly. The majority of these are straightforward. However, as each response is crafted individually, the same query may receive two distinct answers from different agents, and a customer who contacts us twice might get two different responses. In March, we implemented a shared database of pre-written replies. Since then, the average time to the first response has decreased from 9 hours to under 3, and the number of tickets reopened after being resolved has reduced by around a third.

88 words in, 87 out. Every figure survived, and "However" is still the hinge the paragraph turns on. Generated by this rewriter on 19 September 2026 in Standard mode at Balanced strength with Protect names & numbers on, printed here unedited.

What a paragraph rewrite has to get right

Three things, using the words from the example above.

  • The topic sentence to stay firstWhatever the paragraph is about should still be announced in the opening line. In the example, "The support team deals with approximately 400 requests weekly" is still the first thing you read.
  • The connectives to survive"However", "since then", "because" — these carry the logic. The example kept "However" exactly where it was, which is why the contrast between the easy tickets and the duplicated answers still lands.
  • The numbers to stay put400 tickets, 9 hours, under 3, about a third: all four survived the rewrite untouched, because Protect names & numbers is on by default.

What it leaves alone

A rewrite is judged by what it does not touch.

  • The order of the argumentStandard mode rewords; it does not reorder. If your third sentence should have been the first, the rewriter will not tell you — that is an editing decision.
  • Roughly the length88 words became 87 in the example. A paragraph rewrite that halves your text has changed what the paragraph does; use Shorten mode when that is what you want.
  • Your paragraph breaksPaste two paragraphs and you get two back. The blank line between them is respected.

Common mistakes with a paragraph rewriter

5 ways this goes wrong, and what the highlights show you in each case.

Feeding it one sentence at a time

The commonest mistake, and the one that produces paragraphs where every sentence is good and nothing follows from anything. Rewrite the unit you actually care about.

Not reading the joins

Writers check the nouns and skip the little words. The little words are where a paragraph rewrite fails.

Rewriting a paragraph that has two points in it

If the paragraph is really two paragraphs, no rewrite will rescue it. Split it first, then rewrite each part.

Assuming a longer result is a richer one

Extra words usually mean hedging was added, not meaning. Compare the counts under the panes.

Letting a general word replace a concrete one

Rewriters trade specific nouns for vaguer ones. Watch for it in the highlights and put the specific word back.

Paragraph Rewriter FAQs

How long a paragraph can I rewrite at once?

Up to the per-request word allowance shown beside the editor, which covers any normal paragraph several times over. Longer pieces are better done a section at a time — see the article rewriter.

Will it keep my bullet points?

Line breaks and paragraph breaks are preserved. A list will come back as a list, though the wording inside each item will have changed.

Does it change British spelling to American?

It can. In one of the runs recorded on these pages, "neighbourhoods" came back as "neighborhoods". Set the language explicitly rather than leaving it on Auto if spelling matters, and check the result.

Can I rewrite the same paragraph more than once?

Yes, and it is often worth it. Each run produces a different version, and you can step back to any earlier one.

Will the paragraph rewriter change names, numbers or dates?

Not unless you switch Protect names & numbers off. It is on by default, so a figure, a date, a citation or an organisation stays exactly as written while the sentence is rebuilt around it. You can also click any word and freeze it so it survives every run.

Can I see what the paragraph rewriter changed?

Yes. The result comes back with every changed word highlighted against your original, and you can switch to the original at any time to compare. Click a highlighted word for alternatives, edit the result in place, or step back to an earlier version.

After the rewrite

Check the grammar of the result, shift its register with the tone changer, or compare the two versions side by side. One plan covers every tool.

AI rewriter pages for every kind of writing

Pick the page that matches what you are rewriting — a sentence, a paragraph, an essay, an article or a blog post — or the one that matches how far you want the text moved. Every page runs this same rewriter, shows a real before-and-after it produced, and explains what it changes and what it leaves alone. Standard is the default everywhere in this family; Fluency, Formal, Simple, Shorten and Expand are free too, and Academic, Creative and Custom are part of Pro. The AI paraphrasing tool is the same rewriter under its other name.
