Paste it
Paste the sentence on its own. One line is enough — you do not need to bring the paragraph around it unless you want the rewrite to match its neighbours.
Paste the one line that will not come out right and get it back in different words, with the meaning, the names and the numbers left alone.
Let’s rewrite!
Start typing, paste your text, or upload a Word, PDF or text file. Select any word to freeze it.
Most rewriting is not a whole-document job. It is one sentence that says the right thing in the wrong shape: too long, too stiff, starting with the same word as the sentence before it, or circling the point instead of landing on it. A sentence rewriter is for exactly that — you paste the line, you get it back reworded, and you can run it again for another version until one of them sounds like you.
Three steps, and the third is the one people skip.
Paste the sentence on its own. One line is enough — you do not need to bring the paragraph around it unless you want the rewrite to match its neighbours.
Leave the synonyms slider on Balanced. Light barely moves a short sentence; Extensive will start swapping words that were fine.
Read the highlights. Every changed word is marked against your original, so a wrong synonym is visible immediately. Run it again for another version, or click a word for alternatives.
A real run of this rewriter, printed exactly as it came back, so you can judge it on what it actually returned.
Due to the fact that the quarterly report was not submitted by the deadline that had been agreed upon in advance, the committee was unfortunately left with no other option available to it but to postpone its funding decision until the following month.
Because the quarterly report missed the pre‑agreed deadline, the committee had no choice but to delay its funding decision until the next month.
43 words in, 23 out, and every fact still there. Watch "Due to the fact that" become "Because": that is most of the saving in one phrase. Generated by this rewriter on 19 September 2026 in Standard mode at Balanced strength with Protect names & numbers on, printed here unedited.
Three things, using the words from the example above.
A rewrite is judged by what it does not touch.
5 ways this goes wrong, and what the highlights show you in each case.
A line that starts "However" or "This is why" is holding hands with the sentence before it. Rewrite it alone and the link can vanish, leaving a paragraph that no longer flows. Paste the neighbour with it if the join matters.
Different is not better. If the rewrite is the same length and the same shape, it has done nothing for you — run it again or move the slider.
A rewrite that comes back longer than the original has usually padded it. Read the word counts under each pane; if it grew, try Shorten mode instead.
"Missed the deadline" and "did not submit by the deadline" are not equally strong. Check that the verb still does the work you wanted it to do.
The rewriter will happily produce an elegant version of a false statement. Fix the fact first.
Yes. It runs on the same free allowance as the rest of the paraphraser — no account needed within the per-request word limit shown next to the editor, more with a free account, and Pro removes the guest limits and the ads.
Yes. Press the button again and you get another version; the tool does not repeat itself. You can also click any word in the result for alternatives, and step back to an earlier version at any time.
In practice yes. Standard mode rebuilds the sentence rather than restructuring your text, so a single line comes back as a single line.
A grammar checker marks what is wrong and offers a fix for each error. A sentence rewriter changes wording that is not wrong at all — it is for sentences that are correct and still not right.
Not unless you switch Protect names & numbers off. It is on by default, so a figure, a date, a citation or an organisation stays exactly as written while the sentence is rebuilt around it. You can also click any word and freeze it so it survives every run.
Yes. The result comes back with every changed word highlighted against your original, and you can switch to the original at any time to compare. Click a highlighted word for alternatives, edit the result in place, or step back to an earlier version.
Check the grammar of the result, shift its register with the tone changer, or compare the two versions side by side. One plan covers every tool.
Pick the page that matches what you are rewriting — a sentence, a paragraph, an essay, an article or a blog post — or the one that matches how far you want the text moved. Every page runs this same rewriter, shows a real before-and-after it produced, and explains what it changes and what it leaves alone. Standard is the default everywhere in this family; Fluency, Formal, Simple, Shorten and Expand are free too, and Academic, Creative and Custom are part of Pro. The AI paraphrasing tool is the same rewriter under its other name.
