Bengali grammar checked with the reason attached
Paste Bengali and every issue is underlined where it happens, labelled spelling, grammar, punctuation or style, with the reason attached. Bengali is written in the Bengali script, and no gender, the shadhu and cholito registers, vowel signs, conjuncts are what a checker has to get right in it. This one shows the rule each time, not just the change, so you can accept the fix, ignore it, or learn from it.
How to check Bengali grammar
Three steps. The third is the one most checkers leave out.
1
Paste or upload the Bengali
Type, paste or drop in a document. Bengali is already selected as the language on this page; the menu above the editor also offers the variants described below. If the text turns out to be something else, the detector says so and you can change it.
2
Read the flags
Every flag is underlined in the text and listed beside it. Spelling and grammar flags are errors; punctuation and style flags are judgements, and the label tells you which is which before you decide.
3
Accept, ignore or read why
Click a flag to see the fix and the rule behind it, then accept it or ignore it. Bengali has rules that speech does not reveal, and the reason is there so the same error is not made twice.
What the checker looks at in Bengali
The parts of Bengali grammar and spelling where a checker has to know the language, not just the words.
AgreementBengali has no grammatical gender and no adjective agreement, which removes the errors other languages have; instead nouns take case endings and classifiers (বইটা, বইগুলো, ছেলেটি), and the choice of classifier is what the reader notices.
VerbsVerbs end the sentence and conjugate for person and for three levels of respect, not for number (আমি যাই, তুমি যাও, আপনি যান). The modern written standard is cholito bhasha; the old literary shadhu bhasha forms (করিয়াছি for করেছি) in a modern text are a register error.
Spelling and diacriticsBengali writes vowels as signs around the consonant, and the pairs ই/ঈ and উ/ঊ, plus the three sibilants শ, ষ, স that sound alike, are where spelling goes wrong. Conjunct consonants (ক্ষ, জ্ঞ, ষ্ণ) have their own forms, and the chandrabindu (ঁ) marks nasalisation.
PunctuationThe full stop is the daṛi (।); commas, question marks and quotation marks are Latin. Numbers may be written in Bengali or Western digits.
Capital lettersNo capital letters. Proper nouns are unmarked, and respect is carried by the verb form and by honorific suffixes.
Common mistakes in Bengali writing
Five errors Bengali readers notice at once, and what the checker does with each.
শ, ষ or স
শব্দ, ষড়যন্ত্র, সময়: three letters, one sound in most speech. The spelling follows the word’s Sanskrit or native origin and has to be checked, not heard.
ই or ঈ, উ or ঊ
Native and foreign words take the short vowel by the Academy’s rules (ইংরেজি, not ঈংরেজী); Sanskrit-derived words keep the long one where it belongs (ঈশ্বর).
ণ or ন
The ণত্ব rule fixes ণ after ঋ, র, ষ in Sanskrit-derived words (কারণ, ব্রাহ্মণ) and ন elsewhere; native and foreign words take ন.
Shadhu forms in a cholito text
করিয়াছিলাম, তাহার, যাইতেছে are literary; করেছিলাম, তার, যাচ্ছে are the modern standard. The two must not mix in one piece of writing.
Verb form and the level of respect
আপনি যান, তুমি যাও, তুই যা: the verb ending must match the pronoun’s level, and আপনি যাও is a visible error.
Formal and informal Bengali
তুই, তুমি and আপনি each take their own verb ending; আপনি with the -ন form is the written default for strangers, customers and elders, তুমি for equals, তুই only for intimates and children. Mixing them within one text is a grammatical error.
The checker flags a mixed register as style rather than as an error, so the decision stays yours. If a whole text needs to move from one register to the other, the tone changer rewrites it in one pass.

2
Businesses and media writing to Bengali readers in the standard spelling.
3
The diaspora typing Bengali with phonetic keyboards, where ই/ঈ and the sibilants go wrong.
Bengali grammar checker FAQs
Is the Bengali grammar checker free?
Yes. Check Bengali without an account, within the per-check and daily word allowances shown beside the editor. Signing in raises them, and Pro removes the guest limits and the ads. The pricing page lists what each plan includes.
Which Bengali does it check?
The checker targets standard Bengali as written in Bangladesh and West Bengal, which share the grammar; vocabulary and some spellings (Bangla Academy against Paschimbanga Bangla Akademi) differ slightly, and both are accepted. Bengali is preselected on this page; change the language menu above the editor if the text is a different variant.
Does it correct Bengali spelling as well as grammar?
Yes, and in Bengali the two overlap. The Bangla Academy spelling rules (2012) simplified some vowel choices in loanwords (ই rather than ঈ in foreign words), and the errors met most are the three sibilants, ই/ঈ and উ/ঊ, the ণ/ন rule (ণত্ব বিধান) in Sanskrit-derived words, and the য/জ pair. Each of these is underlined where it happens, labelled spelling or grammar, with the standard form and the rule beside it.
Will it rewrite my Bengali?
Not unless you ask it to. A check corrects what is wrong and leaves your sentences as you wrote them; every change is a separate flag you accept or ignore. The Improve and Rewrite passes, which do change wording, are separate buttons, and the paraphraser is a separate tool.
Can I check a whole Bengali document?
Yes. Paste the text or drop in a .docx, .pdf or .txt file; the document is checked paragraph by paragraph and the corrected version can be copied or exported. Long documents are checked within the per-check allowance and continue as you scroll.
Is it useful if I am learning Bengali?
That is where the reason attached to each flag earns its keep. Bengali has no grammatical gender and no adjective agreement, which removes the errors other languages have; instead nouns take case endings and classifiers (বইটা, বইগুলো, ছেলেটি), and the choice of classifier is what the reader notices. A learner sees which rule was broken, not just the corrected word, and can accept the fix or read why it was raised before deciding.
After the check
Translate the corrected Bengali, change its tone, or shorten it. One plan covers every tool.
Each page opens the checker with that language already selected and explains what it looks for in it. The picker above the editor covers more than seventy languages in all.
